This is an annual award given to encourage Young Scientists doing research in the area of magnetic resonance and its applications in India and is given for the contributions and performance made in a calendar year. Earlier this award was called as CBMR-NMRS Gold Medal but from 2022 onwards, the name has been changed to NMRS Medal for Young Scientist. In October 2024, the executive committee of NMRS framed guidelines of eligibility for this award, which is given below.
A faculty/scientist/student who is nominated for the above award should be a member of NMRS. The faculty/scientist nominating a candidate for the above award should also be a member of NMRS.
The nominee must be less than 35 years of age as of 31st December of the year of the award.
All original research papers published in the broad area of magnetic resonance and its applications during the calendar year would only be considered for this award.
Further, the nominee should have original research publications as the first author or corresponding author that extensively researches or applies magnetic resonance.
The publication should have full citations, such as the journal name, year, volume, and page numbers and the impact factor of the journal in which the article was published. Any other formats, such as “manuscript accepted,” “manuscript submitted,” “manuscript under preparation,” “manuscript under review,” “manuscript in press,” etc. will not be considered. Also, reviews, chapters in books, general articles etc. would not be considered for the award. The published papers should reflect the original research in magnetic resonance or the extensive utility of the available MR methods.
Nominations that do not meet the above criteria will not be considered for the award.
